Glenview Students Lace Up in Style Thanks to Shoes That Fit and Nordstrom

This week, joy and excitement filled the halls of Glenview Dual Language Immersion Magnet School as every student received a brand-new pair of Nike athletic shoes, courtesy of the non-profit Shoes That Fit and a generous community partner, Nordstrom.

The event was a joyous occasion that felt like one big party in the Glenview gym. As students entered the gym for the giveaway, they were greeted by cheers and claps from volunteers, celebrating them as the stars of the show. Students were invited to choose between two stylish Nike shoe options in their pre-measured size, ensuring both comfort and confidence. To make the day even more special, they had the chance to personalize their new kicks with fun shoe charms before packing them up in a new tote bag to carry home.

A live DJ kept the energy high with music throughout the day, creating a festive, party-like atmosphere. Smiles were everywhere as Nordstrom staff members, who volunteered their time to make the giveaway run smoothly, helped students find the perfect fit and shared in the excitement.

The generosity didn’t stop with the students. As a token of appreciation for Glenview’s dedicated educators and staff, Nordstrom also donated gift cards, recognizing the incredible work they do each day to support our learning community. Staff members were overwhelmed with the gift, and grateful for the kindness of the Nordstrom donation.

Thanks to Shoes That Fit and Nordstrom, our students not only walked away with new shoes but also with a sense of pride and excitement. In the words of one Glenview student, “I chose the yellow on my shoes because my future is bright!” This act of kindness reminds us all that when we come together, we can lift up every student and help them put their best foot forward, both literally and figuratively.
