Career Experts Bring Learning to Life

Career Experts Bring Learning to Life

At Glenview Dual Language Immersion Magnet, learning doesn’t stop at the textbook—it comes alive through real-world connections! Recently, students had the exciting opportunity to meet career experts who brought their classroom lessons to life in unforgettable ways.

Fourth-grade students welcomed Naturalist Hazel Miller from Metro Parks, who connected directly to their study of extreme settings. Ms. Miller shared her expertise about wetlands—an environment that can be both challenging and full of life. She captivated students with stories and examples of how animals like beavers, crayfish, and frogs have developed unique adaptations to survive in these extreme habitats. Through her visit, students discovered how science in the classroom connects to the world around them, deepening their appreciation for nature and the importance of conservation.

Meanwhile, third-grade students were inspired by Dr. Eiman Jahangir, a local doctor, Metro Nashville Public Schools graduate, and recent Blue Origin astronaut. Dr. Jahangir spoke about his incredible journey from Nashville student to space traveler. He emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and following your dreams, no matter how distant they may seem. His visit connected perfectly to the third graders’ study of space, and his story reminded students that with dedication, even the sky is not the limit.

At Glenview, partnerships like these help students see the real-world impact of what they’re learning and inspire them to dream big. Whether exploring the depths of a wetland or the vastness of space, Glenview students are discovering that curiosity, learning, and determination can take them anywhere.
